What is the particle filter?

If the combustion was perfect, it would only generate water and CO2.

Unfortunately, other type of gazes and particles are also produced. Some of these are harmful and need to be removed.

The main polluting elements that are produced within the engine and need to be removed following the legislative EIV Norm are:

• Carbon Monoxide (CO)
• Nitrogen Oxide (NOx)
• Non burnt hydocarbons (HC)
• Particles (specially with the Diesel engines)

The particle filter does allow the retention and elimination of these ones, mainly in the diesel cars.
